I feel the need to chip in with something positive (call it the Christmas spirit).
I was flying EWR-MSP-GEG today and EWR was a mess with massive WX delays. I ended up getting back to GEG on a rebooked first leg but the original second leg of my itinerary.
With the baggage tracker, I was able to see that my bags were flying a different route EWR-MSP-SLC-GEG. I was able to get them to hold the bag at GEG because I am flying GEG-SLC-TUS tomorrow morning for family Christmas fun.
Without bag tracking, it would have been a nightmare of guessing when the bags might show up, when they might be delivered and the potential for them to show up after I left for my trip tomorrow. Instead, a quick trip back to the airport (thankfully) and I have my bags in hand and can repack for tomorrow.
With all the downgrading of service, at least this was a bright spot for one of the most frustrating and aggravating issues with travel.
