Greetings,
I am planning a family vacation later in the year. I have miles to burn so my plan is to buy round trip coach tickets, domestic, and use either 12,500 for the one way or 25,000 miles for the round trip. I usually just get straight out award tickets online, which is simple enough. It is all of this fare code structure that is, for me, interesting. I have tried to get an answer from DL, either with the on line chat, email or direct conversation. Not one answer is the same. I respectfully request the help of folks here.
When all is said and done, if I do a one way purchase, at the end of the process before one buys the ticket, it shows up something like this: Economy (K). If I do a round trip purchase, the outbound shows up: Economy (K), the return Economy (M). When doing "the booking" I did use the "Economy" tab versus a specific code. I did try that once using a "K" fare put it still came up with the "K" and "M" code.
So, are is the (K) and or (M) fare code eligible using miles to upgrade?
Reading the Skymiles section, I believe the K may be. If one or both are eligible, do I need to call customer service, do it on line, get a cert, etc?
I may have seen that "K" is eligible but it may have been under the international flight section.
