I bought a nonrefundable ticket that I suddenly can't use. I found this out a few hours outside of the 24-hour window to cancel. I put in for a refund online but haven't heard anything, and I don't expect to get the refund.
The ticket was so cheap that the $150 rescheduling fee knocks out all the value of the ticket. (So, yes, if I get stuck paying for a useless ticket, there are worse things in the world.)
I have questions:
Are there any strategies that might be worth trying to get this ticket refunded, even partially? The flight I would like to book instead is actually cheaper.
Has anyone had any luck pleading their case for a "29 hour rule" instead of 24?
Other than that, the best thought I have is that any sort of delay or change to the flight between now and then that would provide a basis for a refund.
Is there anything else that might work?
