Hi there,
I'm new to the boards, even though I've been using the information on Flyertalk forever (seriously, the Amtrak threads alone have saved me tons of money -- thanks!).
I'm planning a honeymoon with my fiancee where we're going from SFO to Thailand through TPE. We're going to book the trip on China Airlines because it's the only one that offers business class direct so we don't have that last three hour flight back home from LAX.
The trip is going to be super expensive (more than we planned on) but it's going to be amazing. My question -- since China Airlines is a Skymiles partner, does it give us any sort of advantage to buy this package on a Delta Amex in terms of the number of miles we can accrue? We're probably not going to spend this much money on anything else in the near future, so we'd like to maximize the benefits if we can.
Not sure if we should get a Skymiles card and, if we do, if paying the extra $50 for the Platinum for the MQM is beneficial.
Thanks in advance for any help!
