back to back tickets with delta am i covered?

I booked a ticket with delta which is leaving 1 hour after i arrive with a different flight with delta so am i covered for delays and such?
What i am doing is rdu-lax-rdu and i added rdu-yul(new ticket).Can they also tag my suitcase all the way to yul from lax?
