Coincidence or targeted offer?

So, this morning I was looking into a possible trip in June to AMS for 4-5 days if I could find flight times/prices that were suitable. Trip was for a specific weekend for a specific event - nothing that I have to go to, but was worth a look.

Anyhow, plugged in several options on delta.com for both paid and award tickets, and even checked KLM and Air France's sites to see their prices too. Was pricing out around $1400 or so for economy; and both Y and J awards were astronomically priced. so for the time being, i closed my browser and went about my day.

Just 10 or so minutes ago I got an email from Delta with the subject "Save $100 on flights to Amsterdam!"

Code:

Anyhow - i'm just curious...was it a coincidence that this came right after I was searching flights to Amsterdam (with my skymiles account logged on) or was it a targeted offer?
