I have two new projects in the SE, but live in DEN. With my current workload, this will put me in the air well over 200k miles per year so I can split with UAL and Delta and probably reach Diamond there, I am already at 85k this year for UAL. However, I am noticing that if I do this I start at only Platinum. What types of upgrade chances am I looking at DEN / ATL and visa versa?
I realize that one of the big downsides of Delta is awards availability, but if I am going to fly this much, awards availability just went out the window, in favor of comfort, easier connections, and internet.
Second, I am already a general member but only fly Delta maybe once or twice a year, will this be a problem getting a status match, the terms of the status match online say that I cannot be a current member? Any thoughts on the above appreciated.
