Sorry if this has already been talked about, but I couldn't find anything about it.
Over the weekend, I got to witness a pilot boarding procedure for the first time. After getting everyone's attn, the GA announced they're pilot testing a new boarding procedure. After pre-boards, he called Zone 1 to line up separately on one side of the stanchion and instructed Zones 2 & 3 to remain seated. He then called First Class to board. I assume (hope) he called SKY Priority after that before calling Zone 1. That sure beats previous experiences (including just a few days prior) where the GA called SP and Zone 1 at the same time!
It was nice and orderly; there was no trying to figure out who is part of which zone, trying to figure out who to line up behind, worrying about inadvertently cutting in front of someone in your boarding group, or trying to squeeze through gaggles of people blocking the way, excuse me, sorry, excuse me please...
