I have found the following segments all in low availability in J for flights in April 2014:
LAS-JFK (12.5 hour layover)
JFK-FCO (6 day stopover)
FCO-CDG-PNR (that's Pointe Noire, Congo Republic)
open jaw, returning 16 days later from Douala, Cameroon
DLA-CDG-ATL-LAS
I originally put just the DLA-CDG-ATL-LAS return leg on hold on the website. It priced at 120,000 miles.
Then I called and had a phone agent add on the outbound segments. She confirmed low availability for all flights, but she says the round trip is pricing out at 182,500. She said she did not know why it wouldn't price at 120,000 for the round trip. She put everything on the held itinerary and said I should call tomorrow and ask for a Skymiles agent to figure it out.
Any thoughts on what is "wrong" with this itinerary? Since the return originally priced at 120,000, I guess the computer doesn't like something about the routing or open jaw on the outbound.
When I call tomorrow, is it possible that they will say that going from JFK to Rome to Paris to West Africa is too indirect or "backtracking"? Or is the 12.5 hour layover in JFK the problem?
