Delta 737-800 Airshow (no PTV version)

Hi all, ever been on a 737-800 (non H) with the drop down screens and ever wondered if there was Airshow? If you haven't known already, it does. Some flight attendants have no clue on how to operate it as it takes multiple steps. Here are the steps to tell the purser. The passengers on my flight were happy to see the airshow broadcasted on such a short flight!

Today's flight was on a non-PTV 738. The flight attendant didn't know how to operate the broadcasted airshow unit. I taught her how to toggle between the movie and the airshow map as many passengers liked seeing the map from New Orleans. It's quite interesting that one needs to manually input the time to destination and Greenwich mean time for the map to operate properly. The destiantion is already set in the cockpit. I believe it is the older version of Airshow as the new IFE airshow is automatically set. They were surprised I knew about how to operate it as they had no clue (I believe they were used to the automatic one- touch delta on demand IFE on most DL aircraft). I told them I learned it from an FA on my SLC-BWI runs back in the day. Interesting how FAs don't know how to put on the map on the un-retrofitted 738s. Tell them to hit video 4 ON THE CENTRAL VIDEO UNIT, then to click the plane icon to designate all zones making the plane icon border turn purple then hit execute. Beforehand, remember to set the times, info and preferred languages on the airshow box to the right (above the coat closet). The central video and airshow units are different.

If you want to toggle between whats shown on the movie unit and the airshow unit, do the above steps but instead push video 1 (making the border turn blue).

When boarding, you can see of the 737-800 has the older airshow if you see a small black box to the top and right of the closet. If its empty and you see a touchscreen on top of the jump seats to your left, the 738 has PTVs and then you can control your own airshow!

Just some info that may enhance your flight and good to help FAs if they don't know how to operate video 4. They were thrilled to know about it too!
