Getting miles for an award ticket?

I had a lot of SkyMiles and then I stopped accumulating after 2011, instead going for status with UA since.

But I have been using miles for BE award tickets.

Last September, I booked a BE award to Italy for this past May/June.

Well I just returned from that trip and so far, they've awarded me just over 10,000 MQMs for the outbound legs, which were SFO-LAX-FCO-VRN.

They have not awarded any miles for the return segment, TRN-FCO on 6/7 and FCO-LAX-SFO on 6/8.

What's even odder is the bulk of the miles breaks down like this:

MQM EARNED
9,531
MQS EARNED
1
BASE MILES
6,354
BONUS MILES
3,177

So they add up the base and the bonus miles together and the totals are MQMs?

First of all, I no longer have status with DL, AFAIK. I let that lapse in 2012, so at best, maybe I was GM through February 2013?

Of course, my understanding is I shouldn't be getting any miles period on an award ticket, nor bonus miles, all of which turn out to MQMs.

I mean, if they give me another 10k for the return segment, I may be tempted to fly at least 5k route to get Silver!

Why the heck not?

But I'm assuming this is a mistake so these miles will get revoked or I won't get any more. No way I'm flying a 15k route just to get Silver.
