I have had the Delta Reserve Amex since its inception and have reached the bonus thresholds each year. In the past, my bonus miles have always posted on the day that my monthly statement which reflected the $30K and $60K thresholds were crossed. There was never more than a few hours lag time between the posting of my online statement on the Amex site and the posting of the 15,000 bonus miles in my Skymiles account. In fact, on several occasions I have seen that the monthly statement advising me that I had crossed the bonus threshold posted and I immediately went to delta.com/deltareservemqm and claimed the bonus miles. I had no problem at all.
On June 9th I received my statement advising me that I had earned the bonus and instructing me to go to delta.com/deltareservemqm to claim my miles. I did notice, however, that my 15K bonus Skymiles had not yet posted to my Skymiles account. When I attempted to claim my 15K MQM's, the website said "You have not reached the eligible spending level for the selected card to add MQMs to your SkyMiles account or to give them to someone else," contrary to what my Amex statement explicitly said. I called Amex, was told it was a Delta problem. I called Delta, was told that Amex was sometimes slow in sending them the "tape" and that it sometimes came on Thursday so wait until Thursday. So tonight I called Amex and the lady with whom I spoke informed me that it can take up to six weeks for the bonus to post and that it has always been that way. I told her that I know that is not the case, and that I can go back in my Skymiles account and show that the bonus posts on the same day the monthly statement is issued and that has always been the case. I told her I understood that it might be true now, but if so, that is a change from the past and a decline in service. She was very kind in her tone and apologized that I was unhappy, but she was equally resolute that it has always been this way.
So I am asking three things: 1) Can other Delta Reserve holders vouch that I am correct and the bonus miles and bonus MQM's have always been available on the day the statement is issued? 2) Is anyone else having a problem or a delay in getting the bonus and the MQM's? 3) If you are a Delta Reserve hater and resent folks like me earning MQM's any way other than BIS, please save it for another thread. I get it, so please refrain from venting here.
