Do you think Mr. Anderson would respond if I sent this email:
Dear Richard Anderson,
As a Diamond Medallion member four years running, I appreciate many of the perks, especially domestic upgrades, the frequent flier program offers your most loyal members. I've seen considerable service enhancements in the Delta Sky Clubs, on flights and with the Red Coats. I feel very valued and appreciated most of the time when I travel on Delta. This past week the First Class flight attendant personally thanked the four Diamond fliers on a flight, it was very VIP'ish.
There's one area I'd like to suggest you review for 2013. One of the perks that I select are the Upgrade Certificates. Today when I called the Diamond Desk to book a flight from my hometown to Buenos Aires, I was advised that the upgradeable International fare was $2500 (Y, B or M class). The lowest cost economy fare is $1500. I have the certificates in my account and was ready to proceed; however, I was notified that even though I was required to pay the higher $2500 fare, I was not "guaranteed" that I would fly the ATL to EZE in Business Class. While there are eight seats available, I was not guaranteed the BC seat.
My concern is that I may spend $2500 and then be in Economy Class. I recognize BC seats are limited; however, it's very unsettling to pay the extra $1000 in advance and not be guaranteed the BC seat. Why doesn't Delta offer the option to pay the $1500 lower cost fare and then if the BC is available, charge the flier the extra $1000 upgrade fee to Y, B or M fare?
