Virgin Australia Question

I'm in the process of booking a trip from LAX to Australia and for my return leg it's giving me the option of booking a Virgin Australia operated flight with a Delta flight number or booking the same flight directly through VA.

I know the last time I flew VA it was an absolutely nightmare trying to get exit row seats because I was on a Delta ticket. Are there any benefits for one over the other? I'm a PM if that makes any difference.
