No Sykclub access for platy on intl itinerary on partner airline

So flying back from SYD on VA and I was denied access to the LAX Skyclub based on VA is not Skyteam and club access only allowed for a plat on intl itinerary on Skyteam airlines. Partner airlines do not count even though the VA site says Velocity elite can access the US Syy Clubs! I was ticketed on VA since DL had no W class available, but EVEN IF I'd been ticketed on the DL code share, still no access (Its not ST metal).

This is of course ia not a big loss since there's little difference nowadays between sitting at the gate and in a US Sky Club. I don't drink alcohol on trips so it's no great loss to wait at the gate.
