Hi everyone,
So, I was on a Delta flight on August 11, from SEA to AMS. We departed on-time, but nearly 2 hours into the flight the captain announced we'd be returning to SEA due to a cooling system problem.
When we returned to SEA, we were detained on the plane for about a 1/2 hour while they tried to figure out if there was a quick fix. Then, we were allowed to de-plane but told to stay close to the gate for an official announcement. I went to the DSC upstairs, and finally an hour later they officially canceled the flight. It was about midnight then, so I took the free hotel room and came back the next day and got re-booked to DUB via CDG.
We were initially given a 50.00 voucher and 10.00 each for breakfast, lunch and dinner (although all the concession stands had closed by then). I called Delta corporate today, and the "most" they could offer me was either a 250.00 voucher or 20,000 SkyMiles, which they said was the maximum for any Gold member (and I'm not even a tier member at Delta, just Alaska).
Question: Should I be satisfied with 20,000 miles? I missed an entire day of work, had to cancel my hotel room in Dublin and rearrange my itinerary. And also, am I eligible to receive the "miles flown" for the duration of the trip that we actually did travel - I think we were flying over Saskatchewan when they turned around?
Thanks for any guidance on this.
