I am planning a HNL-NRT trip using skymiles for next week. I do not hold any skymiles status and I thought this might be a perfect timing to use up my skymiles which is very difficult to redeem compared to other programs and there is availability for the dates I want.
I have enough skymiles to redeem one way in economy and one way in business. China Airlines is not really an option as they charge a fuel surcharge for awards. I probably will fly business for my return flight from NRT-HNL to use the NRT lounges and to avoid overweight bag fees for my return trip. DL and KE has availability for the dates I want in both economy and business. I have flown Delta in coach many times to Japan since NW but never flown in business and never flown Korean air in economy and only have flown KE in the past on a TYO-SEL flight.
Is the KE A330 better in coach and in business compared to Delta's 747 and 767s? Is the food better on KE than DL on this route? By booking KE, I have to pay an additional $40-$50 in taxes and fees. Is KE worth it? I could fly KE or DL on both flights.
