Using DL award to book MH flight LAX to KUL, possible?

I am able to call and have DL agent holds 4 tickets
from

DTW (DL) - LAX (MH) - NRT (MH)- KUL,

currently, the Malaysia airline tickets still in "Waitlisted".
(Dl = First Class, MH = U class - Business Class)

Malaysia airline award booking is required long sell process and DL agent was not able to get response from Malaysia airline. I was told the reservation is on hold till 22, and hope malaysia airline will response by then.

Anyone has experience with Malaysia airline (delta Award) booking?
I have a feeling that getting these tickets with delta award is nearly zero.
