ATL-LAX SWU/Miles?

I've got a slightly a complex question here that I'm hoping one of the experts can help me out with. I've done some searching and found some good info, but I'm looking for advice as well. Please be nice - this is my first time using EF as well as potentially an SWU. And yes, I know if I really want BE, I should buy just it outright. :p

I've booked a trip coming up for work that puts me on the 777 going from ATL-LAX the week of Dec 17 that booked into K & Q fare class for each direction. I've yet to exercise my PM choice benefit for this year, and I was think thinking using the SWUs to get a seat in BE would be a nice choice.

Here is what EF shows for the outbound:
J9 C9 D9 I3 S3 Y9 B9 M9 H9 Q9 K9 L0 U0 T0 E0

and the return:
J8 C3 D1 I0 S0 Y9 B9 M9 H9 Q9 K0 L0 U0 T0 E0

Z is 0 on both flights and it doesn't seem to pull up anything when I just select G (which I thought was for domestic flights). I know this continues to SYD, so that may be the reason.

Now to the questions:

- Does this look like a good situation where an SWU would work? I should set an EF alert for Z and if it never opens, I should be placed at the top of the list at the airport, correct?

- Do you think this is a good use of SWUs/PM choice benefit? Should I use miles instead (although I think those don't have as high a priority as SWUs, right?) I may have a couple more ATL-LAX trips coming up and I've heard this is a tough UG for even DMs. And I'll be dropping to GM next year, so it will be good to potentially have two extras in my pocket. I may even have a TATL or two, but it would likely be > M.

- And possibly the easiest solution - Will PM + Reserve + K/Q fare be strong enough to get this on my own?

Thanks!
