Traveled on DL2360 from SLC to DCA earlier this week. Kept monitoring the upgrade list on my iPhone - prior to boarding, there were still two seats in F and I was #2. Arrived at the gate and the monitor still showed the same list. So far so good.
Boarding began and eventually, I realized the gate monitor now showed zero seats available and I advanced to #1 - I assumed someone (DM with higher ticket, full Y) must have jumped the list.
I inquired with the GA about this who urged me to board. He claimed "the iPhone app and the monitors must have been wrong," since I never was on #2, but actually #5. He mentioned that all passengers ahead of me were Diamonds as well and sometimes the information on app/monitors would be incorrect.
I didn't want to delay the boarding process, but still found it quite strange. Even if I really was #5 (and this was displayed incorrectly on the app/monitor), why would I end up on #1 after the two seats had cleared? Doesn't make too much sense to me.
I called the Diamond Desk and surprisingly, the agent confirmed there have been a couple incidents reported by passengers flying from SLC, where "something with the upgrade list was not right." She advised me to submit a complaint, so they could look into this.
Any thoughts?
