Had my first arrival experience at the new T4 the other day. NOT GOOD!!
This is the Terminal that Delta is touting so highly in all its promotions as the best new thing since sliced bread-- well, it just ain't so. In fact, I found it much worse than recent arrivals at T3, believe it or not!!
The Passport Control was the first place to go. They funnel US Citizens to a VERY long line, perhaps over 500 meters. The "Visitors" or non-US citizens are strangely given priority, they go straight through on the right side, to a much much shorter line!! (WHY??) In Europe, EU citizens are given priority, and non EU (as in USA) citizens get the long lines there!
The US Citizen line took 1 hour, and 5 minutes to get through. At T3, the longest I ever remember waiting at this line was 20 minutes.
Next, the Baggage Claim. Luggage was not yet off the flight, even though it was almost 90 minutes since landing!! They for some reason put 5 flights on the same carousel. Some of the other carousels had one or no flights. So this carousel was 5 deep. Then, after another 25 minutes, they announced that my flight ALSO had luggage at another carousel! This was 4 carousels away!! So one had to jockey between the 2 carousels to find their luggage! NOT ACCEPTABLE!!!
So finally, after a 9 hour flight and over 2 1/2 hours at the airport to get Passport checked and luggage, exhausted, I met my ride,
T4, Bah Humbug!!
I will do my best to use AF in the future on arrival flight, T1 is so much easier!!
